Tarhe Monument

About Us

Erected in memory of the great Wyandot Chief Tarhe, the Crane, who led his people in peace. He was one of the signers of the Treaty of Greenville and was considered the sachem of all Indian tribes. At his death in 1818, leading chiefs of the surrounding states gathered and mourned his loss. This was considered the largest gathering of leaders from the Indian nations in the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley areas.
